An abundance of Health & Vitality

The holidays are over, the kids are back at school and everyone has returned to work fully refreshed, refocused and with an abundance of energy following their summer break….or not as the case maybe. If you fall into the category of ‘I need another holiday!’, then this month’s Northern Lights Newsletter is for you.

If you’re anything like me and the thousands of other people who constantly juggle a day job, a family, a marriage, a social life and a million other commitments then looking after yourself often falls way down the list of priorities. If so, simply hoping to rejuvenate yourself with a two week break once a year isn’t going to cut it and eventually your lifestyle will catch up with you.

So what’s the symptom that curses so many of us – it’s low energy or indeed a complete lack of energy.
Low energy has now been accepted as a by-product of the way we live yet something we have no control over. If you wake up in the morning and bounce out of bed like Tigger, then it is perceived as a gift from nowhere; whereas if you fall out of bed in the morning feeling like you’ve just been run over by a bus and then struggle to get through the day before collapsing in front of the box at 7pm with a take-out on your knees because you didn’t have the energy to make a wholesome meal for yourself, then you often justify this lack of energy by how busy you are – that must be the reason why we are always knackered!

Well guess what, it doesn’t have to be like that. It is possible to have an abundance of energy to do everything you want and then some but possessing health & vitality doesn’t happen by accident. It is isn’t a magic gift handed out randomly when we are asleep; people who posses energy behave differently and they have daily habits that build energy and vitality. Most importantly they are in tune with their bodies and know what works and doesn’t work for them.

So here are are our tips for building an abundance of health & energy in your life:

5 a day minimum.

It is true what the doc says. We do need a diet packed full of ‘high water content foods’ – that’s the raw stuff to you and me. A body deficient in nutrients and minerals will not function well. You wouldn’t put kitchen oil in your car and expect it to run smoothly, so why expect the same from your body. If you only do one thing from the list, changing your eating habits will have the biggest impact on your levels of energy and overall wellbeing.

Breathe.

If you feel your energy levels dropping, stop what you’re doing and take 5 deep breaths. Try this rhythm. Breathe in through your nose for 5 seconds. Hold your breath for 10 seconds and then breathe out through your mouth for 20 seconds. Repeat 5 times. This floods your body with oxygen. No oxygen means no energy.

Drink; preferably water!

The average person needs around 2½ to 3ltrs of water per day. You should drink regularly well before you feel thirsty. Often when we feel hungry we are simply thirsty so get in the habit of having water to hand, on your desk, in the car, in the fridge. Add a slice of lemon to give it an extra zing drop in some ice and it looks like a G&T!

Ok so those are the basics which you probably already know, so here are some more ideas for you.

Get a spinal adjustment.

A body out of alignment (which is a natural consequence of our modern lifestyles) is a body that can’t function at its optimum. Don’t wait until you have back pain; get a regular adjustment to ensure the motorway of your body – your spine – is well maintained. The best clinic in the North East is The Wellness Centre in Newcastle. Contact them on 0191 243 1216.

Have a good physical clear-out with a colonic.

I know, if you’ve never had one before then the thought of ‘That’s a tube with some lube and it’s going where!’ can be a bit daunting. But think on this – all disease starts with a toxic bowel. Keep your bowel clean with regular colonics and your bodies natural defences can clear your system of any toxic imbalances. Less toxicity means more energy.

Drink some greens.

What are these I hear you shout? If any of you have seen me slugging on a bottle full of a green liquid that looks like it came from the bottom of the pond then you’ll know what I’m on about. A by-product of our modern lifestyles is over-production of Acid in our tissues which our bodies use up vital energy reserves to eliminate. Drinking ‘Greens’ which are naturally alkaline which helps to balance this process, easing the load on your body, leaving your reserves free for you to use. If you want to know more and where to get them drop us a line.

Jump on a rebounder.

If you haven’t got one…get one. This is one of the lowest impact exercises that you can do and it’s an efficient way to lymph size your body. Your lymph system relies on muscle movement for its circulation and it’s you lymph that eliminates all the toxins from your tissues. A sluggish lymph naturally makes you feel tired. 10mins twice a day on the rebounder not only makes you feel great, you are helping your body to move the waste through. We have rebounders in our office, a great way to increase your energy in that post-lunch slot!

Get a live blood test.

This test takes a tiny amount of blood and analyses under the microscope. You will see instantly is you are deficient in any nutrients and what your body needs. There’s nothing like seeing your cells working to give you a real appreciation and a whole new level of respect for the miracle of your body. If your in the NE then make an appointment with Mark Tough 0191 491 3665 www.lifephorce.com it will be one of the best decisions you can make for your health.

Aerobic workouts.

Hate sweating it out in the gym? Well new research says that that is not the most efficient way to increase your fitness. You should work out for 5-10mins per day at your aerobic threshold (that’s when you can still breath and hold a simple conversation) These type of workouts are conducted within the internal environment of oxygen and do not produce lactic acid as a by-product (that’s aching stiff muscles you get after a hard session in the gym). Use the following equation to work out your Aerobic Threshold

55% -70% of your maximum heart rate (220-your age)

I.e. in my case 220-36= 184 of which the range 55-70% would be 101-128 heart beats per minute

And finally.. Great sex!

Not only is great sex an excellent calorie burner, great for your relationship, great emotionally; it produces wonderful hormones in the blood which naturally reduce stress and toxins.

I won’t ask what everyone will be doing tonight!

So whichever techniques you choose the important thing to remember is to listen to your body and work out what feels right for you…..then apply it!
